Briar Routine

Last updated: 2026-10-08

Briar Routine is an offline habit tracker and day planner: you create habits, tick them off, keep a to-do list beside them and look back over a weekly chart and a twelve-week grid. This policy describes what Briar Routine does and does not do with your data. The short version: Briar Routine does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information.

1Information we collect

None. There is no account, no sign-in, no email capture and no device or advertising identifier. We run no servers, so nothing the app holds ever reaches us.

2Data stored on your device

To make the app work, Briar Routine stores the following only on your device, using the operating system's local storage:

  • Habits — name, icon, area, weekly target, creation date and archived state.
  • Daily check-offs — which habit you marked on which date, plus any short note you add to a day.
  • Planner entries — title, optional notes and due date, priority, done state and an optional link to a habit.
  • Profile — the display name and crest you pick (the default name is “Keeper”) and the date you first opened the app.
  • Preferences — week start, archive visibility, milestone celebrations and planner view options.
  • Milestones — which ones you have reached and when.

This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to Briar Routine or to any third party. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all of it permanently.

3Permissions

Briar Routine asks for no runtime permissions — no camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, calendar or notifications. The Android build declares android.permission.INTERNET because the standard Flutter template includes it; the app never uses it, and as a normal (non-dangerous) permission it is never prompted for. iOS declares no usage descriptions at all.

4Network use

None. The app contains no HTTP client, no socket code and no SDK that opens a connection, and it works the same in airplane mode.

5Third-party services

No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, attribution or social-login services are integrated. The open-source Flutter packages it uses (Hive for local storage, Riverpod, fl_chart, confetti, flutter_animate, gap, collection, package_info_plus) all run on the device and send nothing. The Space Grotesk typeface ships inside the app under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

6Children's privacy

Because the app collects nothing, it cannot collect personal information from children. It is suitable for all ages and is compliant with COPPA and the GDPR rules on children’s data by design: no profiling, no advertising, no data leaving the phone.

7Your rights

Everything is in your hands. Edit or delete any habit, note or planner entry inside the app; deleting a habit also removes its check-offs. Uninstalling Briar Routine erases everything it stored. If your phone’s own backup (Android Backup or iCloud) is on, it may include this data under Google’s or Apple’s policies; we have no access to it. Since we never receive your data, GDPR and CCPA rights such as access, erasure and portability are satisfied entirely on your device.

8Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
